Overview
Horgan, a central figure residing in the small town of Eckley, is waiting - on a baby, on his dying father, and most importantly, waiting for a life to occur to him. All these things more or less come to pass during one day in Horgan's life, these and a few more things he hadn't realized he was waiting on.
