From a mass of correspondence, Helen Thurber, the author's widow, and Edward Weeks, his friend and editor of 'The Atlantic', have selected over 100 letters covering the period 1935-1961, from his peak as a writer and artist to the last days, when even blindness could not conquer his exuberant spirit.
