Biography
Lu Yuan (September 8, 1928 - February 8, 2020), formerly known as Liang Luyuan, was a native of Tianjin, an actor, broadcaster, translation and film director of the People's Republic of China, and the winner of the Feitian Award for Outstanding Actress. After graduating from the Department of Economics of Nankai University in 1950, Lu Yuan joined Tianjin People's Broadcasting Station as an anchor. Because of her love for drama, she began broadcasting and serving as a director of various radio dramas, including "Red Flag Book" and "Shura and Zoya". In the 1970s, he joined Tianjin TV Station as a translation and production director. After her husband passed away in 1998, Lu Yuan stopped all work. After 2000, Lu Yuan began to serve as the host of the children's program "Story Grandma" on Tianjin TV. In 2005, she became famous for her outstanding performance as a demented elderly person in the hit drama "Watching Happiness". At the age of 78, she won the 25th Chinese TV Drama Feitian Award for Outstanding Actress, becoming the oldest winner of this award, won the title of Best Actress at the Seoul Television Festival in South Korea the following year. The jury commented that "Lu Yuan performed the joys and sorrows of an mentally retarded old man vividly.". Passed away at 8:30 pm on February 8, 2020, at the age of 93.
