Biography
Guest of the National Theatre Opera. The theatre, opera, film, television and radio actress Mireille Mossé hails from Toulon, France. In addition to studying English and Spanish, she also attended several drama courses. She acts in German and English, as well as French. The most noteworthy roles she has created in theatre productions over the past decade are Nell in Beckett’s Endgame (Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne, 1995), Ariel in Shakespeare’s The Tempest (M. C. L. A. Nantes, 2003), the Guard and the prophet Teiresias in Sophocles’s Antigone (Théâtre National de Toulouse, 2004), Winnie in Beckett’s Happy Days (Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne, 2006), etc. When it comes to opera, she has primarily appeared in productions by the stage directors Ursel and Karl-Ernst Herrmann. In Mozart’s opera La finta giardiniera she rendered the silent role of Amor. The production was premiered at Théâtre Royal du Parc in Brussels (1986) and was subsequently presented at Théâtre de la Monnaie, where it was recorded on video (1989). It was also staged at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York (1990) and at Salzburger Festspiele (1992). In the scenic spectacle Ombra felice, set to Mozart’s music, she portrayed the role of the Actress. It was premiered at Salzburger Festspiele (1994) and subsequently presented at Comédie de Montpellier, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris and at Opéra de Lille (1997). Mireille Mossé has also appeared in several films; for example, The Swimming Pool (2002), directed by F. Ozon; La fille sur le pont (The Girl on the Bridge, 1999), directed by P. Leconte; La cité des enfants perdus (The City of Lost Children, 1995), directed by J.-P. Jeunet and M. Caro. She has regularly collaborated with the France Culture station within Radio France.
