Overview
The mechanisms underlying the transcriptional control of gene expression are of fundamental importance to many areas of contemporary biomedical research, ranging from the understanding of basic issues (such as the control of embryonic development) to practical applications in industry and medicine. Although fundamental concepts of gene expression are covered in all basic molecular biology textbooks, the depth of coverage is usually rather limited.<p>This book presents much of the current thinking about the molecular mechanisms of gene expression in a form that is easily accessible to undergraduates with an understanding of basic molecular biology concepts. It contains detailed information about the various types of transcriptional machinery that have recently become available. The book will not only serve as an undergraduate text but also offer something new and interesting to all readers. In addition, it will clear up some of the existing vagueness and stimulate increased interest in the subject.
